Ikoma Safari Camp is situated five minutes from the Ikoma gate to the Serengeti National Park, in a part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem known as the Ikoma Wildlife Area. This area covers approximately 450 sq km and was established as a buffer zone to the Park itself. The camp was awarded a concession for the area to undertake game viewing drives and walks. In this regard, the camp also works in close collaboration with the surrounding local villages and people. Fort Ikoma, now the Serengeti National Park headquarters, is only 17 km to the west of the camp.
Lodge and rooms
The Ikoma Safari Camp is small, comfortable and secluded. The camp offers a total of 10 spacious tents, all with twin beds and en-suite bathrooms with hot showers and flush toilets. Cool bush-thatched roofs, also providing very useful verandas, shelter all the tents. The camps facilities include a typical "Out of Africa" traditional styled grass thatched bar and dining room. Electricity and the hot water are provided by solar power and an inverter for recharging camera batteries is available. In addition to game drives, game viewing walks and night game drives are also undertaken.
